Iran's president, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated on Wednesday that the conflict with the United States and Israel can only end if Iran's rightful claims are recognized, reparations are paid, and there are strong international guarantees to prevent future attacks. This statement, shared on X, clearly outlines Tehran's demands for a ceasefire and suggests that an immediate resolution, like the one proposed by President Donald Trump earlier this week, is unlikely. Trump had expressed optimism that the conflict would soon conclude. This announcement comes as military actions escalate, with the Israeli military conducting extensive strikes on Hezbollah targets in the Dahieh area of Beirut. Efforts to intercept these strikes are ongoing. Israeli spokesperson Avichay Adraee urged people living in the southern suburbs of Beirut to evacuate immediately. In response, Hezbollah has fired rockets at various locations in Israel. Meanwhile, the Israeli foreign ministry reported that Iran and Hezbollah are targeting northern Israel, with missiles striking homes, streets, schools, and families daily. Additionally, Iranian foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi mentioned on X that Iran's "national infrastructure is under attack," citing an incident where a branch of Iran's oldest bank was bombed while it was full of employees. He promised retaliation for this attack. President Pezeshkian emphasized that international guarantees are crucial to prevent future aggression, describing these conditions as essential and non-negotiable for any ceasefire.
