Iran s internet blackout hits 120 hours
Iran is experiencing an internet blackout that has lasted over 120 hours, with connectivity dropping to just about 1% of normal levels, according to NetBlocks, an independent monitoring group. They reported that Iranian telecom companies are acting in an “Orwellian” manner, even threatening legal action against users trying to access the global internet. This situation has made it challenging to understand what is truly happening in Iran. In addition, explosions shook Tehran again this morning, leaving many residents uncertain about whether to flee or stay. A man who escaped the city shared his experience with CNN. Loud noises were reported in the Iranian capital on Thursday morning, as noted by the semi-official news agency Tasnim. “The bombing is happening everywhere - north, south, east, west. They seem to be targeting anything in sight,” the anonymous resident told CNN, fearing retaliation. He, along with his wife, a doctor, left Tehran a few nights ago. He described the anxiety of living amidst ongoing attacks, stating, “You never know who or what is the target.” Earlier in the week, a TV and radio antenna near their home was struck, causing the entire neighborhood to shake. Now they are living in a small town near Damavand, the highest mountain in Iran. He mentioned that nights are filled with the sound of fighter jets, but so far, no explosions have reached their new location.
