The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has restarted collecting vehicle parking fees in Colombo as of today, the 23rd. The Municipal Commissioner announced that parking management and fee collection would follow the regular schedule beginning at 6:00 a.m. This collection had been on hold since March 18 because of heavy traffic and long lines of vehicles waiting at fuel stations throughout the city. However, the CMC reported that the situation has improved with the launch of the National Fuel Pass, a QR code system, and fuel distribution according to vehicle registration numbers. As a result, the queues for fuel have become much shorter. Therefore, with traffic conditions returning to normal, the council has decided it is time to reinstate the usual parking fee system.
