The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which is a coalition of armed groups supported by Iran, announced that it shot down a U.S. military refueling plane in western Iraq on Thursday. In a statement, the group declared that they targeted the KC-135 aircraft “to protect our country's sovereignty and airspace.”
