The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has started the process of assessing damage in various districts to provide compensation for farmers impacted by crop loss during the 2025/2026 Maha season. According to a statement from the Board, field officers from district offices have begun evaluating the damage in areas where crops have suffered. Currently, damage assessments are taking place in Polonnaruwa, Badulla, and Anuradhapura, and these evaluations are expected to be finished soon. After the assessments are complete, the Board will seek recommendations from the Department of Agrarian Development. Compensation will then be paid quickly, based on the actual damage reported.
