Iran has announced that the bodies of numerous sailors who lost their lives when the US attacked and sank the IRIS Dena vessel near Sri Lanka will soon be brought back to their home country. According to a statement from Iran’s Fars News Agency, the army’s public relations office reported that 84 out of 104 bodies have been identified and will be repatriated shortly. This process is being facilitated by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the Sri Lankan government. This announcement follows the sinking of the ship by a US submarine last week. Previous media reports indicated that Washington was urging Sri Lanka not to return the bodies of the Iranian sailors.
