Qatar's government has condemned an Iranian attack on a residential facility in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia, which resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to several others. In a statement released on Sunday (local time) on X, Qatar called the attack a serious breach of international norms and cautioned that such actions could worsen the already tense situation in the region. The statement highlighted that strikes on civilian areas violate international law and could escalate conflicts in West Asia. "The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Iranian attack that targeted a residential facility in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia, leading to the death of two civilians and injuries to others," the statement read. Qatar noted that this incident is a clear violation of accepted international legal principles and raises alarms about increasing tensions in the area. The country warned that if not managed through adherence to international laws and diplomatic efforts, such actions could lead to greater instability. "Qatar views this attack as a blatant violation of international law and its principles, representing a dangerous escalation that threatens the region's security and stability," the statement added. These comments were made by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also rejected the justifications provided by Tehran for the attack. Doha reiterated its opposition to actions that target neighboring nations or escalate hostilities. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms Qatar’s absolute rejection of the reasons given by the Islamic Republic of Iran for attacking countries in the region," the ministry stated. Qatar also stressed the need to uphold international legal standards and maintain peaceful relations with neighboring countries. Officials called on all parties to refrain from actions that could heighten tensions or expand conflicts.
