Sajin Vass Gunawardena, a former Member of Parliament in Sri Lanka, was taken into custody today by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). His arrest is linked to accusations that he has illegal assets totaling Rs. 243.8 million. Gunawardena was apprehended when he came to the Bribery Commission this morning, September 9, to give a statement. He had arrived to assist with an ongoing investigation into claims of acquiring assets unlawfully.
