A warm weather alert has been issued for people living in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Vavuniya, and Mannar districts of Sri Lanka. Tomorrow, on the 9th, the heat index, which measures how hot it feels to the human body, is predicted to reach the 'Caution Level' in many areas, according to the Department of Meteorology. The Met Department explained that the Heat Index Forecast takes into account relative humidity and maximum temperature, reflecting what people actually feel. They warned that spending too much time in the sun and engaging in outdoor activities can cause tiredness, and continuing those activities may lead to heat cramps. As a result, residents are advised to drink plenty of water and limit heavy outdoor work. Copyright ©2026 Ada Derana. All rights reserved. Solution by Technology Partner Fortunacreatives.
