Over 26,000 individuals subjected to inspection during special police operation

During a special operation across Sri Lanka yesterday (07), police inspected a total of 26,895 people. They arrested 568 individuals suspected of being involved in criminal activities, as well as those linked to illicit liquor and drug offenses. The Police Media Division reported that 15 people were found to have direct connections to criminal acts. Additionally, police apprehended 445 suspects who had outstanding warrants. The operation also led to the arrest of 282 drivers for being drunk, along with 56 reckless drivers, and 4,160 people who broke various traffic laws. Police stated that these island-wide operations aim to catch drug traffickers of all sizes, those involved in criminal activities, and individuals with illegal firearms.
