The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) announced that in February 2026, Sri Lanka welcomed 279,328 tourists. This is the largest number of visitors ever recorded in a single month in the country’s history. The figures show an increase of almost 16.2% compared to February 2025. The peak day for tourist arrivals was February 12, 2026, when 12,731 people entered the country. India was the top source of visitors, with 47,679 arrivals, according to the SLTDA. Other countries that sent many tourists included the United Kingdom with 30,788, Russia with 23,099, and Germany with 22,566.
