Arumahandi Janith Madhusankha de Silva, known as “Podi Lassie,” has been returned to Sri Lanka from India by a special police team this morning, March 27. He was taken into custody by Indian authorities after diplomatic talks and with the help of Interpol. ‘Podi Lassie’ is said to have escaped to India by boat after being released on bail on December 9, 2024. He was reportedly caught by security forces in Mumbai in January 2025. Today, he arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-142 at 5:55 a.m. After landing, he was escorted under tight security from the airport and turned over to the Elpitiya Divisional Crimes Investigation Bureau for further inquiries.
