The owner of the house where the second shooter hid has been arrested in connection with the double murder of a lawyer and his wife at a supermarket parking lot in Akuregoda. Police reported that the suspect was taken into custody this afternoon (26) by the Monaragala Police at his home in the Diviyapola area of Nannapurawa, Medagama. He will be transferred to the Western Province South Crime Division for further investigation, according to authorities. The second shooter, who was apprehended in Monaragala yesterday (25), is currently being held for 72 hours for questioning. During the investigation, it was discovered that the murdered lawyer had represented the shooter in two legal cases. Investigators noted that when the shooter arrived in Akuregoda, he mentioned to the other shooter, "Buddhika knows me because he appeared in two of my cases." After this, the suspects allegedly stopped their vehicle and fired shots at the lawyer's car. Additionally, the suspect admitted to acting on the orders of a person known as ‘Karandeniya Sudda’ in a separate plan to kill Siridath Dhammika, a former Superintendent of Boossa Prison. He also stated that he carried out the attack alongside another individual named “Lala” and personally fired two shots at Dhammika.
