Three teenage girls arrested over break-in at Kalutara stadium canteen

Three teenage girls have been taken into custody for reportedly breaking into the canteen at the Vernon U Fernando Stadium in Kalutara. They are accused of stealing sweets and chocolates valued at almost Rs. 40,000, according to police. The Kalutara South Police noted that the girls are aged 13, 14, and 15. Investigators, led by the Officer-in-Charge of the Kalutara District Crimes Division, used CCTV footage to identify the suspects. The police later found a stash of toffees, chocolates, lollipops, and chewing gum hidden at a children's home. Initial investigations indicated that the girls had stolen a key to the home and left around 1:30 a.m. They reportedly broke the front glass of the canteen with a pole, took the candy items, packed them into plastic bags, and returned to the home where they hid the stolen goods. The suspects are expected to appear in the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.
