Today, on the 20th, Ananda Wijepala, the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, shared information in Parliament about properties and assets that were obtained illegally by suspects arrested during raids since September of last year. This information was provided in response to a question from Member of Parliament Ravindra Bandara. The Minister explained that these assets have now been frozen. He pointed out that some of these properties belong to well-known underworld figures, including ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’, who was taken into custody last year. In his speech, the Minister detailed the frozen assets as follows: 1. Hapugoda Arachchige Kankanamge Duminda Dilruk – assets worth Rs. 23 million, which include one van, one motorcycle, a house, and a roller gate. 2. Kandaiya Kalamogan – value yet to be determined; consists of two motorboats. 3. Dilum Tharaka Balasuriya – a two-story house on 15 perches of land, valued at Rs. 800,000. 4. Mohammad Harish Mohammad – assets frozen since January 21, 2026; value yet to be assessed; includes five confiscated vehicles. 5. Mohammad Shiyam – assets frozen on January 21, 2026; value not yet assessed; includes one confiscated car.
