The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has arrested 11 individuals and seized two fishing boats in the deep sea off the southern coast for having heroin and the synthetic drug known as ‘ICE’ (crystal methamphetamine). The operation, which took place yesterday, involved both the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and targeted the boats carrying a significant amount of drugs. Officials found around 270 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and heroin hidden on the vessels. The special search was conducted with long-endurance boats, following tips from the Sri Lanka Police. During the operation, five suspects were caught on the first fishing trawler, while six were arrested on the second boat, according to the Navy. The suspects, the fishing boats, and the drugs are now being taken to shore for further investigation and legal action.
