The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Union has announced plans to initiate trade union action due to several unmet demands. In their statement, the union explained that this decision follows ongoing delays in providing five copies of the updated recruitment process for Station Master positions to the Secretary of the Public Service Commission. They also mentioned continued delays in giving recommendations for the interim rules related to the hiring process. The union informed the President and other relevant officials in writing about these matters on January 09. Since no solutions have been offered, the Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Union has stated it will begin trade union action after January 23.
