This morning, a Russian general was killed when a bomb went off under his car in southern Moscow, according to investigators. Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, who led the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff, suffered fatal injuries, as confirmed by Svetlana Petrenko, the spokesperson for Russia’s Investigative Committee. Petrenko stated, “Investigators are looking into many possibilities regarding the murder. One possibility is that Ukrainian intelligence services planned the crime.” Reports from Russian media indicated that a vehicle exploded in a parking area on Yaseneva Street around 7 a.m., with the driver inside. Ukraine’s security service had previously taken responsibility for a similar attack in December 2024, which targeted a high-ranking Russian officer. Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, who was in charge of the military's nuclear, biological, and chemical protection units, was killed by a bomb hidden on an electric scooter outside his apartment the day after Kyiv filed charges against him. His assistant, Ilya Polikarpov, also lost his life in that incident.
