Second ship fired on in Strait of Hormuz - UKMTO
The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) has reported that a second ship has been targeted in the Strait of Hormuz. The UKMTO, which is led by the British Royal Navy, stated that a cargo ship leaving port was fired upon eight nautical miles west of Iran. The vessel is currently stopped in the water. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the crew is “safe and accounted for.” The UKMTO also mentioned that there is a lot of activity in the Strait of Hormuz and advised ships to report any suspicious incidents. This incident follows an attack on another container ship, which occurred 15 nautical miles northeast of Oman. That attack involved a “gun boat” from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and caused significant damage to the ship's bridge. Shipping routes in the crucial Strait of Hormuz have faced severe restrictions imposed by Iran since the conflict with Israel and the United States began. Meanwhile, the US military is enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports. On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced that the truce between the two nations would be extended, following its initial implementation on April 8.
