
The Department of Meteorology has issued an 'Amber' advisory warning of severe lightning for several regions in Sri Lanka. This includes the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central, Southern, and Uva provinces, as well as the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa. The advisory was released at noon today, the 22nd, and will remain in effect until 11:30 p.m. Severe lightning and thundershowers are expected to hit some areas in the mentioned provinces and districts after 1:00 p.m. During the thundershowers, there may also be temporary strong winds. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from lightning strikes.
