This morning (21), seven Buddhist monks, headed by Venerable Pannakara Thero from Vietnam, arrived in Sri Lanka to participate in the "Walk for Peace." Along with the monks, a rescue dog named 'Aloka' is also part of the group. The well-known "Walk for Peace" event will take place in Sri Lanka from today until April 28, with support from the government. The procession, which includes Ven. Pannakara Thero and the Maha Sangha, will feature a sacred Bodhi sapling brought from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. Many state and private organizations, such as the Presidential Secretariat, the Clean Sri Lanka program, the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, Local Government, the Tri-Forces, the Police, and the National Design Centre, are backing this peace walk. The event will highlight Sri Lanka's Buddhist heritage, traditional crafts, and cultural aspects for the public to enjoy.
