Suspect arrested for Rs. 1 mln fraud involving fake bank website
A man has been taken into custody for allegedly stealing Rs. 1,000,024 by setting up a fake website that looked like the official site of a private bank. The North Western Province Unit of the Computer Crimes Investigation Division (CCID) began looking into the case after receiving a complaint, according to police reports. The suspect, a 22-year-old from Minuwangoda, was arrested yesterday (20) and brought to the Wariyapola Police Station. He is set to appear in front of the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court today (21). The CCID's North Western Province Unit is continuing its investigation into this matter.
