Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel struck railways, bridges in Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that Israel targeted railways and bridges in Iran, claiming they were used by the Revolutionary Guards. This statement followed reports from Iranian officials about damage to at least two bridges and railway systems. Netanyahu stated in a video released by his office, “We are aggressively dismantling the terror regime in Iran with even greater strength.” He added, “Our pilots destroyed transport planes and many helicopters at an Iranian Air Force base yesterday. Today, they attacked the railways and bridges linked to the Revolutionary Guards.” The Israeli military confirmed that it hit “eight bridge segments utilized by the Iranian terror regime’s Armed Forces for moving weapons and military supplies in various locations across Iran, such as Tehran, Karaj, Tabriz, Kashan, and Qom.” Brigadier General Effie Defrin, an Israeli military spokesman, mentioned that “air force pilots are continuing to inflict damage on the Iranian terror regime.” He also noted in a post on X that “we took out several commanders of the regime last night and targeted important infrastructure they rely on.” This announcement coincided with a warning from US President Donald Trump, who stated that “a whole civilization will die” if Iran does not meet a midnight deadline for a deal to allow free passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump cautioned that if Tehran did not permit the safe passage of ships through this vital oil route by midnight GMT, the US would carry out what he termed the “complete demolition” of Iran’s key infrastructure, including bridges and power plants.
