President Rajapakse visits the historic Nagadeepa Vihare in Mahiyangana. The Ven. Beruwala Dhammaratana thera, chief incumbent of the Vihare said the President is the first head of state to visit the temple after kings such as Dutugemunu and Kawantissa.
The President pointed out that he is aware of the needs of the rural folk. He said his desire is to develop the country despite obstacles, extending relief to the people. His main objective is to liberate the entire nation from the menace of terrorism. Many development projects are being launched, facing this challenge. He assured swift measures to problems such as commodity prices, which are slightly impacting the people. The people of the area highly praised the President`s bold initiatives to liberate the country from terrorism, which has plagued the country for nearly three decades. They claimed that President Rajapakse is the only people`s leader who can bring peace to the country, despite accusations made by various elements. The Ven. Dhamma Ratana thera appreciated the President`s sudden visit to the Vihare.
