US proposal to end war is one-sided , door to diplomacy still open, Iranian official says

A senior Iranian official stated on Thursday that Iran's first reaction to the U.S. proposal to end the war, which was sent to Pakistan, was that it was “one-sided and unfair.” The official mentioned to Reuters that a way forward could still be possible if Washington adopts a realistic approach. The proposal was carefully reviewed on Wednesday night by high-ranking Iranian officials and a representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader. The official explained that the proposal asks Iran to give up its right to defend itself in exchange for an unclear promise to lift sanctions. He pointed out that the proposal does not meet the basic conditions needed for success. He also noted that there is currently no arrangement for negotiations, and no realistic plan for talks is in place. Meanwhile, Turkey and Pakistan are working to help bridge the gap between Iran and the United States and lessen their differences.
