All services at the Department for Registration of Persons (ID Office) will be halted starting tomorrow, the 27th, until further notice. This suspension is due to a failure in the computer system, as announced by the Department of Government Information. The system broke down at the main office in Battaramulla at 1:30 p.m. As a result, the one-day service for National Identity Cards (NICs) and all other services in provincial offices are affected. The department is currently working to fix the system.
