Trump tells advisors he wants Iran conflict to end in coming weeks- Report
A report from the Wall Street Journal has indicated that U.S. President Trump recently informed his advisors that he wants to end the conflict in Iran soon, avoiding a long war. According to sources familiar with the situation, Trump believes the conflict is nearing its conclusion and has encouraged his team to adhere to the four-to-six-week timeline he mentioned publicly. This timeframe may align with the upcoming mid-May summit between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. On Thursday, Trump claimed to have ended eight wars and expressed confidence that the situation in Iran would be resolved similarly. During his speech at the NRCC Annual Fundraising Dinner, he stated that no leader has ever wanted the job of running Iran less than its current leader. He remarked, "We have settled eight wars. We are winning another one. What we are doing in the Middle East with Iran is unprecedented. They are negotiating, by the way. They desperately want to make a deal, but they fear for their lives if they admit it. They also worry about what we might do." White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized that Trump does not make empty threats and warned that Iran must understand the seriousness of U.S. intentions in the region. While addressing the media, Leavitt noted that Trump prefers peace and had delayed military action after Iran showed interest in discussions. "President Trump always seeks peace. However, after his strong warning on Saturday night, it was clear that Iran wanted to talk," she stated.
