Iran war timeline is “approximately 4 to 6 weeks”- White House
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the expected duration of the war with Iran remains four to six weeks. When asked if the conflict could end before President Donald Trump's scheduled trip to China in mid-May, Leavitt stated, “As I’ve mentioned before, we’ve consistently estimated about four to six weeks. So, you can do the math.” President Trump has indicated his desire to conclude the war quickly but has not committed to a specific timeline. Leavitt also shared on Wednesday that Trump’s trip to China, which was postponed due to the war, is now set for May 14 and 15. Additionally, Leavitt remarked that it is “too soon to say” if the Trump administration is content with the new leadership in Iran, despite ongoing peace talks with Tehran. When questioned about Trump’s comments from Tuesday claiming the administration has “achieved regime change” in Iran, Leavitt supported the president's statement. She noted, “Their entire leadership has been killed, and no one has truly seen or heard from this supposed new leader.” She added, “There has been a change in leadership — I mean, regime leadership, which is what the president said.” However, when asked if the administration was pleased with Iran’s new leaders, she reiterated that it was “too soon to say.”
