QatarEnergy has announced force majeure on its liquefied natural gas contracts with Italy, Belgium, South Korea, and China after missile strikes hit its Ras Laffan production site last week. The attacks took place on Wednesday and Thursday, leading to substantial damage at the facility. At Ras Laffan, two LNG trains and one gas-to-liquids train were affected. QatarEnergy is still evaluating how the attacks will impact its operations. The company is also looking into how long repairs will take for the damaged facilities. By declaring force majeure, QatarEnergy can pause its delivery obligations for LNG to the impacted nations due to factors outside of its control.
