Trump says US wants talks with Iran but there s nobody to talk to after killing of senior officials
US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the United States wants to talk with Iran, but he expressed that there is "nobody to talk to" after recent strikes by the US and Israel that he claims have severely weakened Iran's leadership. While presenting a trophy at the White House, Trump remarked, "We’re having a hard time. We want to talk to them, and there’s nobody to talk to. We have nobody to talk to. And you know what—we like it that way." He continued, asserting that Iran's navy, air force, anti-aircraft defenses, and radar systems are all gone along with their leaders. "Now nobody wants to be a leader over there anymore," he added. Despite these comments, Trump emphasized that the goal of the US is to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. "We’re not going to let them have nuclear weapons, because if they had them, they’d use them," he insisted, repeating a reason for military action that critics argue is not backed by evidence. Trump also mentioned that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was in the White House Situation Room during the event and chose not to attend. The president claimed significant victories on the battlefield, stating that many of Iran's naval assets were destroyed in just a few days. "They had a navy two weeks ago. They have no navy anymore. It’s all at the bottom of the sea—58 ships knocked down in two days," he declared.
