Showers or thundershowers in parts of the island after 2pm

Showers or thundershowers are expected in many areas of Sri Lanka after 2:00 p.m., according to the Department of Meteorology. Some regions, including the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva provinces, and the Anuradhapura district, could see heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm. In the morning, light showers may occur along the eastern coast. Early in the day, misty conditions are likely in parts of Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, and Uva provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Anuradhapura, and Kalutara. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risks from strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
