Israel extends re-entry visas for Sri Lankans and overseas workers
Workers from Sri Lanka who have traveled out of Israel for vacations or other reasons will see their re-entry visas extended until April 30, 2026. This announcement came from Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara. Under this new decision, any re-entry visas that expired or are set to expire between February 28 and April 21, 2026, will automatically be valid until April 30 without needing a separate application for the extension, according to the Ambassador. The updated visa details will be available in the system of Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority, and workers can enter through border crossings during this time. Additionally, Ambassador Nimal Bandara expressed concerns over ongoing threats of attacks on Israel from Hezbollah and Iran. He highlighted that Israeli security officials have warned the public about possible simultaneous attacks on economic and military targets in northern areas. Residents in those regions have been advised to heed safety instructions and to quickly relocate to the nearest safe places when sirens sound, as stated by Ambassador Bandara. Israeli officials have also stressed that if there are no designated shelters, individuals should seek cover in sturdy buildings and avoid areas with glass doors and windows.
