British Airways to resume flights to Colombo
British Airways has declared that it will restart flights to Colombo in October. Starting from October 23, 2026, the airline will operate three flights per week from London Gatwick to Colombo. This service will be available only during the winter season, bringing travelers directly to Sri Lanka, known for its beautiful beaches, diverse wildlife, lively culture, and delicious food. Passengers can choose from three travel classes: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class). Return ticket prices begin at £620, which includes taxes and fees. The airline also announced a major expansion of its network for winter 2026, introducing two new destinations, including Melbourne in Australia and Colombo. Additionally, British Airways plans to increase flights to Cape Town (South Africa), Haneda (Tokyo), Bridgetown (Barbados), Kingston (Jamaica), and San Jose (Costa Rica) for the winter season. This new schedule shows a nine percent growth in British Airways’ long-haul routes, as the airline invests in more options for its customers. The upcoming routes and increased flight frequencies for winter 2026 are part of a response to short-term capacity needs due to customer demand, especially related to the situation in the Middle East. Recently, British Airways added seven extra return flights to Bangkok and Singapore and will keep evaluating its schedule to add more flights as required.
