PUCSL s Western Province public consultation on proposed electricity tariff revision tomorrow
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will hold its last public consultation session for the proposed electricity tariff changes tomorrow, October 18, in Colombo. This session will take place at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo 07, specifically in the Levender Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The PUCSL has organized a series of consultations to gather public feedback on the Ceylon Electricity Board's (CEB) proposed tariff adjustments for 2026, following the regulations set out in Section 17(c) of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No. 35 of 2002, and Section 30 of the Electricity Act, No. 20 of 2009. These sessions began on February 25. The CEB submitted its proposal to the PUCSL on February 13, which included a request for a 13.56% increase in electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026, starting from April 1 to June 30. Earlier, the CEB had also proposed an 11.57% increase for the first quarter of 2026, but that proposal was not approved by the PUCSL.
