A fire in the trauma care unit of a hospital in Odisha, India, resulted in the deaths of at least 10 individuals on Monday, according to officials. Five others suffered serious injuries, although it is unclear whether these were due to the fire or pre-existing conditions. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that the fire likely started from a short circuit in the trauma center during the early hours of the day. There were 23 patients receiving care in the intensive care unit, and 10 of them died while being moved to a safer area away from the flames. Majhi praised the medical staff and security personnel for their bravery in rescuing patients, noting that some of them were also injured during the operation and are now receiving treatment.
