Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met with Masato Kanda, the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), during her official trip to Manila. In their meeting, both parties reaffirmed the strong relationship between Sri Lanka and the ADB, according to the Office of the Prime Minister. President Kanda praised Sri Lanka’s efforts to stabilize its economy and recover from the recent economic crisis. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the ADB’s ongoing support for development and emphasized the importance of ADB-funded projects in key areas that aid the country's recovery and growth. Additionally, while in Manila, she also spoke with Yingming Yang, the Vice President for South, Central, and West Asia of the ADB. They discussed the progress of current ADB projects in Sri Lanka and looked for ways to enhance cooperation in sectors like health, education, and social development, as mentioned by the Office of the Prime Minister.
