The humanitarian crisis in Iran has reached a serious level as fighting continues, leading to many casualties and widespread displacement. After more than a week of conflict, the humanitarian situation remains dire. Al Jazeera reports that official numbers show "over 1,300 people have been killed" since the violence started. Additionally, "around 100,000 have been displaced" as many residents are forced to leave their homes to find safety. This large movement of people has put a strain on relief efforts, with the UN refugee agency noting a "surge in urgent calls for assistance" to meet the growing needs of those affected. In the midst of this worsening crisis, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out targeted strikes on several Iranian military sites in the capital. Their official account on X shared, "STRUCK: Several Fuel Storage Complexes Belonging to the IRGC in Tehran." The operation, guided by IDF intelligence, aimed at specific sites identified as key locations for distributing resources to various armed groups. The IDF stated that the "IAF struck these complexes, where the Iranian terrorist regime would distribute fuel to multiple military entities in Iran," emphasizing that the operation "significantly deepens the damage to the military infrastructure of the Iranian terrorist regime." Alongside these military actions, US President Donald Trump claimed on Saturday (US local time) that the United States had eliminated the entire leadership in Iran and referred to these actions as removing a major ‘cancer’ from the world. When questioned about the US's involvement in the bombing of an elementary girls’ school in Iran, Trump denied the claims and instead blamed Iran for the attack, stating that the inaccuracy of Iranian weapons was a factor.
