Two Japanese citizens are being held in Iran, but Japan is in touch with them, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi stated on Friday. During a meeting of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Motegi assured, “We are confident they are safe at this moment.” One of those detained is thought to be the head of NHK’s bureau in Tehran, who was arrested by Iranian authorities in January.
