Two Indian men were arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for trying to smuggle drugs into Sri Lanka. The arrests took place on October 4 by officers from the Customs Narcotics Control Unit. The suspects, aged 26 and 37, arrived on Thai AirAsia flight FD 142 from Thailand. During a search, Customs officers found large amounts of narcotics hidden in their carry-on bags. One man had 1,525 grams of 'Kush' cannabis, which is valued at around Rs. 15,250,000, and 182 grams of hashish worth approximately Rs. 1,820,000. The other man was found with 1,513 grams of 'Kush' cannabis, estimated to be worth Rs. 15,130,000. After initial investigations, both men and the drugs were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further inquiries and legal action.
