The UK’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the drone which hit RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus on Sunday night did not come from Iran. However, the unmanned aircraft showed features typical of Iran's Shahed design, which is a type of low-cost drone that Russia has frequently used in its attacks on Ukraine, according to SkyNews. The Royal Navy is planning to send Wildcat helicopters to Cyprus soon to strengthen the air defences at the base. This incident occurs during an ongoing missile campaign by Iran, targeting various sites in the Middle East and Mediterranean in response to an attack by the US and Israel. The British facility at Akrotiri is currently on high alert as the UK ramps up its military presence in the area following the drone strike. A significant military transport aircraft, a Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, arrived on Tuesday night, signaling a new effort to enhance the deterrent capabilities of British forces in the eastern Mediterranean.
