Israel s main airport reopens
Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport has reopened following a five-day closure that began with joint military strikes by Israel and the US against Iran. This morning, the first repatriation flight from Athens landed, bringing home Israelis who had been stuck overseas. It is expected that Israeli airlines will assist in flying back around 100,000 Israelis who have been unable to return since airspace was closed on Saturday. Authorities in Israel have approved a gradual reopening of the airspace, depending on security conditions. In the meantime, Iran launched missiles at Israel overnight, marking the sixth day of aerial attacks in the Middle East. The US and Israel increased their bombing of Iran yesterday. Additionally, Israel’s military targeted southern suburbs of Beirut, known as a Hezbollah area, after warning residents. Air raid sirens were activated in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem due to incoming rocket threats after a brief quiet period. Explosions were heard as air defenses intercepted the missiles. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Israel is relaxing some public restrictions as the number of rockets fired from Iran has decreased.
