Sri Lanka Customs officials at a warehouse in Peliyagoda have discovered more than 52kg of drugs hidden in various food packages that were shipped from Malaysia by air. During an inspection on April 4, Customs officers uncovered around 51.07 kilograms of Hashish, which has an estimated street value of Rs. 510.7 million, and 1.07 kilograms of Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice,’ valued at about Rs. 25.4 million. The total value of the drugs seized is around Rs. 536.1 million, according to Sri Lanka Customs. The packages were sent to four people living in Colombo 10, 14, and 15. After initial investigations, the suspects and the seized drugs were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further inquiry. PNB officers are expected to initiate legal action soon.
