Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims to have full control of the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for oil and gas shipping. They warn that any ships trying to pass through could be hit by missiles or stray drones. IRGC Navy official Mohammad Akbarzadeh stated, “At present, the Islamic Republic’s Navy has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz,” in a message released by Fars news agency. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump mentioned yesterday that the US Navy is prepared to escort oil tankers through this critical shipping route in the Gulf.
