The Sri Lanka Navy has started a rescue operation after receiving a distress signal from an Iranian ship about 40 nautical miles from Galle Harbour. Navy vessels from Sri Lanka are on their way to the site to assist those on the ship, according to the Ministry of Defence. Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), the Deputy Minister of Defence, mentioned that steps are already being taken regarding this situation.
