A 28-year-old woman from Sri Lanka was arrested at Chennai International Airport for using fake documents to get an Indian passport and trying to leave the country. The passport-fraud unit of India’s Central Crime Branch started an investigation after the Foreigners Regional Registration Office made a report. The woman, named S Nishanthini, came to India with her family in 2009 and lived in the Mandapam refugee camp in Ramanathapuram. She studied in college in Coimbatore, where she obtained Aadhaar, PAN, and voter cards, which she then used to apply for a passport. Police reported that she was stopped while attempting to board a flight back to Sri Lanka.
