The Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Arusha Cooray, has confirmed that no Sri Lankans were hurt in the recent airstrikes in the UAE. The UAE’s Ministry of Defence reported civilian casualties from missile and drone strikes attributed to Iran. While the Ministry noted that some Sri Lankan nationals were among those who suffered minor injuries, Ambassador Cooray has stated otherwise. In their report, the Ministry mentioned that three individuals from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh lost their lives in the attacks. Additionally, 58 people sustained minor injuries. Those injured included nationals from various countries, such as the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. However, Ambassador Cooray has reassured that no Sri Lankans were among the injured in these recent incidents.
