Due to the cancellation of flights to the Middle East starting on 28 February 2026, travelers who cannot leave Sri Lanka before their visa expires may face challenges, according to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration. To help these passengers, the Department of Immigration and Emigration will offer a free seven-day visa extension. This extension will let affected individuals stay in the country legally until they can arrange their departure. The extension will be effective for seven days from the expiration date of their current visa.
