The Sri Lanka Police are set to investigate and take legal action against anyone involved in illegally hoarding fuel, marking up prices for resale, or spreading false information about fuel supplies on social media. The Police Headquarters released this information in a statement. The Police Media Division has noticed that some individuals are trying to stockpile fuel due to worries stemming from the unstable situation in the Middle East. However, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has confirmed that the country has enough fuel reserves and urged the public not to panic. Despite this reassurance, certain people and groups are still trying to gather fuel in cans, barrels, and other containers. Police stations have been directed to work with filling station managers to stop these actions. The Police Media Division emphasized that fuel should only be dispensed into containers for legitimate reasons, such as fishing boats, industrial needs, workplaces, agricultural use, and essential home purposes.
