Iran has begun a new series of missile and drone attacks aimed at U.S. military bases in the Middle East and Israel. According to Iranian state television, the strikes targeted 27 U.S. bases, Israel’s military headquarters, and a defense industries complex located in Tel Aviv. Residents in Dubai, UAE, Doha, Qatar, and Manama, Bahrain reported hearing loud explosions. Witnesses noted that loud blasts were heard in Dubai and Doha for the second consecutive day on Sunday after Iran retaliated against the Gulf states due to U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. These new explosions followed a day of deadly attacks in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, which affected military bases and infrastructure, including airports, throughout the Gulf, with the exception of neutral Oman. On Sunday, March 1, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards declared that they would carry out the “most ferocious” operation in history against Israel and U.S. bases following the death of their supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The 86-year-old leader, who had held power since 1989, was killed during the initial phase of a major U.S. and Israeli assault that continued into its second day. This situation poses a risk of further destabilizing the broader Middle East, with reports of retaliatory strikes in Dubai, Bahrain, and other locations housing U.S. military facilities.
