Pakistan has carried out a retaliatory operation after alleged border attacks by the Afghan Taliban, claiming to have killed over 130 Taliban fighters. The operation, named Ghazab lil Haq, began late Thursday night following reports of attacks on multiple border posts by the Afghan Taliban. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that the military is providing a strong response to the Taliban's actions. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar provided an update during which he stated that at least 133 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed and over 200 wounded. He noted that Afghan Taliban defense positions in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar were targeted, with the potential for more casualties. The operation resulted in the destruction of at least 27 Taliban posts, along with the capture of nine more. Additionally, the minister reported that two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two ammunition storage sites, one logistics base, three battalion headquarters, two sector headquarters, and over 80 tanks, artillery pieces, and armored vehicles were destroyed. According to state broadcaster PTV News, the Pakistan Air Force specifically targeted key military sites of the Afghan Taliban in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. The attacks led to the destruction of two brigade headquarters in Kabul, as well as one corps and one brigade headquarters in Kandahar. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the Afghan Taliban for their attacks on civilians. The interior ministry shared his remarks on X, stating that Pakistan’s armed forces had appropriately responded to the Taliban's aggression. He described the Taliban's actions as a cowardly nighttime attack on innocent civilians.
